Why It’s Gone
MC Hammer is and has always been a very visual performer. Without videos, however, Hammer would have been nearly non-existent in 1988 when the song “Turn This Mutha Out” was released. So what happened? His popularity dwindled and the record company refused to do any type of film restoration on his videos. That would explain why his videos look like they’re being played on a VCR. To be fair, almost all videos, from rap to rock, look like crap from that time period. Additionally, video sales were down and if anybody wanted to feel nostalgic, they could simply go to YouTube.
