MOVIESinMO REVIEW
It’s starting to happen. Movies that would otherwise be mediocre at best are now the best (and unfortunately) the only new things out there. Honest Thief is entertaining for a streaming service title, but since the studio, Open Road Films has a deal with the theaters AMC and Regal, this half-ass piece of crap is only on the big screen and Honest Thief is about as mediocre as it gets. This time Liam is a professional safe thief that has never been caught in his more than 8-year career. Then he meets a woman and decides to come clean, to the authorities, regarding his dishonest life. The rest of the film plays out like all of Mr. Neeson’s movies. Something happens that causes him to be on the run or after someone or both. In his current film, he does both. Next, he needs to have skills. In this one, he has several. I could tell you more, but I don’t want to spoil The Commuter 2. I mean Non-Stop 2, or maybe this is Cold Pursuit 2. You get it – same movie, different name. Honest Thief is another entry in the Liam Neeson library. Another film where he plays the victim, even when he’s the one doing wrong. Another movie where it doesn’t matter what he does for a living; he always has above average skills. None of those things is the problem. Other actors do it all the time. The main difference is they make sequels and create a franchise. Someone needs to pass that information along to Liam.
