WHAT’S IT ABOUT
For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. Next January, DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate (Mackenzie Davis) is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora (Brooklynn Prince) and Miles (Finn Wolfhard). Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets, and things may not be as they appear.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Anyone that sees this piece of crap should sue for their money and time. I honestly don’t think any movie this year will be worse than this. I thought it was going to be an ok movie because it started with a woman trying to get away from something or someone. Well, after that dramatic five-minute opening scene, nothing happens literally, for the next thirty minutes. I sat through that somewhat unusual beginning, it was the previous nanny by the way. Watched as they introduced Kate (Mackenzie Davis) as the next person of interest and waited for the movie to become worth watching. Other than nothing happening, Mrs. Grose, the housekeeper/cook, welcomed Kate as the new nanny. She is told she has to care for a little girl named Flora, probably seven years old, and live in the extremely huge estate that’s surrounded by nature (the forest, ponds, etc.). The biggest noticeable problem is Kate. She acts like she is afraid of her own shadow and this is before anything close to scary happens. Next, Flora’s brother, Miles, shows up. He was kicked out of boarding school and now Kate has two kids she needs to care for. You quickly learn how much of an ass Miles is and how much influence he has on his sister. Meanwhile, Kate is “seeing things” but never says anything about it. She starts hearing things and goes to investigate but nothing and no one is there to explain the noise. This went on for the next hour until Kate finally decided she’s leaving and taking the kids with her. As she drove away, something happened that confused the entire theater audience. There were a few more scenes then it ended. Not everyone stayed until the end but for the unlucky ones that did, there should have been a camera pointed at us. The reactions were priceless.
