What’s It About
The Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Well worth the wait, but like all sequels, there were some questionable scenes, starting with the first ten minutes. They are devoted to the question everybody has – how did this thing start. From there, it was non-stop stress. Just like the first movie, noise is as much the enemy as is the monsters. There lies the bad part and good part of the film – how and when did they find out the monsters reacted to sound. As the movie progresses, the family dynamic is tested as the Abbotts meet other people outside their now destroyed farmhouse. This is where the first film left off, and Part II picks up without missing a beat. This time the stakes are higher, and their trek as a family is further tested with the addition of a newborn and minus a father. They’ve also amped up the stress level by adding other families, and just like real life, there are always some evil ones in the bunch. Even with horrible monsters at large, there are still opportunistic individuals making things much harder than they need to be. The most notable thing about Part II is the courageous development of the Abbott kids. They stepped up their game a lot compared to part one, considering the short time the world had been exposed to the creatures. Overall, A Quiet Place: Part II is a positive addition to the story that focuses mainly on family throughout. The monsters are just a scary-ass distraction.
