MOVIESinMO REVIEW
The trend of origin stories is becoming more popular than ever. So, it was no surprise when The King’s Man was announced to be a prequel. I don’t have a problem with prequels or origin stories, but this movie was not only unnecessary, it wasn’t the same type of film that made the other two special. The Kingman movies are like Bond films made for those who want lots of action, gadgets, and cool spy stuff, no matter how improbable it may be. And there’s some kind of story mixed in, but no one really cares. All that we know and love about the Kingsman movies have been taken away and replaced by a real story in The King’s Man. That’s right, they tried to justify the existence of their organization by showing a weak story as to why the world needs them. But that story was wrapped in another story involving the main character’s son. As for the action, It was nearly non-existent. The action scenes that were there did not have the same vibe as the other films in the series. They didn’t have all the fancy gadgets. They bragged about having agents everywhere around the globe, but we only ever see a handful, and their fighting skills were on the same level or below compared to the enemy. Overall, The King’s Man is a slow-paced, lightly dramatic spy movie loaded with tons of exposition to fill the action void.
