MOVIESinMO REVIEW
I love science fiction films but Outside the Wire is boring as hell. As impressive as this futuristic premise is, the actual story is so drawn out, it brings the rest of the movie down to a point where nobody cares. Lt. Harp disobeyed a direct order, and he knowingly killed two soldiers via drone. Instead of going to federal prison, he is given new orders working for an android officer Captain Leo in the militarized zone. Harp has no idea what to do or how to act, considering he has always been behind a screen controlling a drone. When Capt. Leo reveals himself as an android, Lieutenant Harp is rightfully worried and impressed at the same time. Revelations like that (new mission, android, etc.), was ok for the first thirty minutes. Afterward, talking about the Captain being artificial or listening to Harp whine about his inexperience gets real old fast. Unfortunately, that’s what you will need to put up with for the remainder of the movie. Because of this, you can’t enjoy the film or immerse yourself within the story. As soon as things start happening or the action gets too intense, they apparently need to stop and explain the same stuff you heard at the beginning of the movie; Leo is an android, Harp isn’t experienced, or my favorite, “What’s the mission again?” On top of all of that, the thirty-minute climax was so unbelievable, any credibility for an actual watchable piece of theatrical art was lost.
