MOVIESinMO REVIEW
They ended it with a bang. This is the third, and unless they change their minds, the last one in the Olympus Has Fallen trilogy. This time around, there’s a noticeable difference in the story versus action divide. The first two films have a very even story to action ratio. That was 2013 and 2016 respectfully. Now it’s 2019, and sadly a lot has changed for the worse. Olympus Has Fallen was a great film, and London Has Fallen was even better. Angel Has Fallen can’t be compared by the same scale as the other two because of how much Hollywood has changed in the last six years. We’ve started to shy away from the story to show more action. This is a lousy move for any new movie with a unique story to tell. This is why there are so many sequels. No one wants to spend the time or take a chance on telling a new narrative if all they need to do is add to what’s already available. That’s how we end up with crap like Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Luckily for the studios, sometimes it works. Thank you John Wick 3, Toy Story 4, and Avengers: Endgame. Angel Has Fallen is somewhere in the middle. It has little story, although there’s not much left to tell after the last two films. That is the only but main issue with this movie. You need to see the other two to fully understand the concept of this one. If you have seen the others, then why would you want to hear that same story for the third time. Angel Has Fallen is all about action. Yes, it has a story, but who cares. This is the last one, and just like Endgame and John Wick, this had to be worth the wait.
