WHAT’S IT ABOUT
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida town, young Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her missing father, Dave. After finding him gravely injured in their family home, the two of them become trapped by the rapidly encroaching floodwaters. With the storm strengthening, Haley and Dave discover an even greater threat than the rising water level — a relentless attack from a pack of gigantic alligators.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
It’s summertime, and that means blockbuster time. That also means big-budget movies that are just plain fun. Last year it was “Meg,” this time it’s “Crawl,” a ninety-minute alligator attacking thrill ride. Like Meg, this film has a relentless water creature. So it goes without saying, the realism has been thrown out the window in the name of action. A girl named Haley wants to know if her father is ok and forcefully passes an evacuation roadblock. Once she locates her injured father, they both become Alligator prey. This is when all the stuff you’ve been waiting to see happens. Multiple attacks, multiple victims, and enough close calls to keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I’m not from Florida, and I don’t know that much about alligators, but I know there were a lot of unbelievable things happening that made me question the overall plot of the film. “A hurricane hits Florida, a girl ignore the mandatory evacuation, and becomes trapped in her family home with her injured father by several alligators.” Unfortunately, that is the whole movie in a nutshell. Everything in between was like a very well acted and animated Sci-Fi channel film. Although Crawl is better than anything on that channel, it’s only one stupid kill away from being the next Sharknado movie. As I stated earlier, it’s a movie for fun, not facts. Keep that in mind when or if you plan on seeing it.
