WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody’s slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Woody and the gang are back, again, for the last time, again. This time they give us a review of the past three films just in case, you didn’t know how they got to their present state, or maybe you weren’t born yet since the first Toy Story was released in 1985. It has been on TV nearly every day for the last month before the release of Toy Story 4. Maybe you don’t own a TV and haven’t been able to watch it. Whatever the case is, the first few minutes of TS4 will make sure you/re all caught up. The past Toy Story films were mainly about the toys, and their interaction between each other and the children was somehow secondary. This time the main stories focus on kids. How kids feel, how kids interact with toys, and what the right toy means to a kid. They still have issues among themselves, but it’s a small side-story that always focuses on the central points – kids. The main kid being Bonnie, the child that Andy gave his toys to in Toy Story 3. She was starting kindergarten and was not allowed to bring any of her toys. Because of this, she created a toy from a spork and named it Forky. Woody takes on the leadership role as usual and protects Forky. Next, Bonnie’s family decides to take a road trip in their RV, and this is where the fun starts. There is so much going on throughout the movie, it will keep any kid entertained, and at the same time, adults will love the way everything flows together. You have Forky trying to throw himself away and Woody being ever diligent in saving him. There’s a carnival filled with rides and games our protagonists must both use and avoid. We are introduced to new toy friends like Ducky, Bunny, and Gabby-Gabby and reintroduced to Bo Peep and her sheep. In the end, TS4 has a lot of funny, thoughtful, and of course, teary moments but compared to Toy Story 3, this installment is much better (and less traumatizing) for kids. Even if you haven’t seen the other films, Toy Story 4 stands on its own and is a must-see for anyone looking for the best family movie with cross-generational appeal.
