WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Avengers: Endgame is the pure definition of EPIC. This film is 3-hours of comic book bliss that could have easily been satisfying at 5-hours. Also, if you’ve seen all the previous films, there’s a definite payoff when watching Endgame. In Endgame, you see our heroes in a more non-super light as the world is still in pain after losing half of all living things. It’s very humbling and humanizing to watch as Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and the rest of the remaining Avengers deal with the loss of more than just their friends but their families which understandably created the state of learned helplessness within our heroes. So from a truly epic battle, there are very sad moments. There are happy moments but they, for the most part, are forced. The anger, the feelings of confusion, the overall tone, this is what we all expected, but I don’t think we were ready to experience so much heartbreak, and negativity from the only people left we always thought we could turn to – The Avengers. Avengers: Endgame is the conclusion to a story that started over ten years ago, and with each film, the heroes were victorious. But don’t forget, with each victory, there was always a loss. From thousands of people dying in Avengers: Age of Ultron including Quicksilver to Thor’s mother in Thor: The Dark World, you know the death toll will be huge. Endgame is not a movie you want to pass on. Endgame will become a serious part of motion picture history and just like Star Wars; it has created a worldwide spectacle that goes far beyond mere pop culture references. So although it’s a comic book genre, this film has more emotions than the most intense drama or comedy film rolled into one. As for characters, nearly every MCU character is in this movie. From The Incredible Hulk in 2008 to Captain Marvel in 2018, the Marvel universe has grown exponentially. Adding more heroes, more villains, and becoming more extreme. It’s truly awe-inspiring to witness the apex of years of planning for what has to be the world’s first complete comic book adventure to use more than 3 or 4 films to tell its story. None of this would have happened or even mattered if the story wasn’t there. Luckily for all concerned, the stories were written and approved by those that understand comics. Now that phase three is almost over (still waiting on Spider-man: Far From Home), we have at least a year to prepare for phase four and beyond.
