What’s It About

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

MOVIESinMO REVIEW

After a 4-hour binge, I can honestly say I loved The Justice League movie. All those scenes that made little to no sense in the theatrical version finally had meaning once you see it play out in its entirety. When this film was in theaters, it had so many things to prove, but things were stacked against it even more. It’s a superhero comic book film that, unfortunately, Marvel had already defined the genre as a fast-paced, not too serious movie filled with PG action for the whole family. The Snyder cut was fortunate enough to premiere without being compared to the latest Marvel film. Viewers got the chance to enjoy a more serious, adult-themed, Rated R comic-book movie, and the payoff was enormous. The Justice League Snyder Cut showcased all six characters in their own 30-minute segment. Batman was a constant figure throughout the film because he felt it his responsibility to create a superhero team to defeat evil since Superman was killed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The first hour of Snyder’s JL was Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The next hour focused on The Flash and Cyborg. From there, it’s all about the camaraderie, the battles, and the Superman issue. The last hour is the whole team working together and the epic struggle the save Earth. It’s a grim and gritty version of what being a superhero is like from an adult perspective. The deaths are real, and war has lasting physical and emotional consequences. The tone of the entire film is the complete opposite of its Marvel counterpart. No jokes about who does whatever better or what’s for lunch later. The fate of the world is at stake, and the DC universe acts accordingly. Batman knows how horrible the world can be and has trained himself to deal with such heartaches in his own seemingly uncaring way. Wonder Woman is a 5000-year-old Amazon with tons of life experience, able to access a situation and adjust accordingly. The half-Atlantean, half-human Aquaman, was already at odds with his destiny as King of Atlantis. He is fully aware of how bad things are, but his actions in Justice League portray him as a selfish but caring person that only joins the group to protect the ones he cares about. The rest of the world is a distant second. As for the two “kids” of the group, they have a whole new set of issues to worry about. Victor Stone, a.k.a., Cyborg, a once-star quarterback, is in a battle with his newly acquired body, mother’s death, and emotionless father. Understandably, The Flash is the only one with the ability to joke or laugh in the face of danger. He’s a frightened kid on the front line thrown into his first war, trying to cope with something he doesn’t fully understand and doesn’t want to. Then there’s Superman. In the original 2017, 2-hour version of this movie, Clark was the main focal point. He is more powerful than every member of the League combined. So, in that version, you waited for Superman to arrive in the last 15-minutes to save the day. That’s why that version sucked. This time, everyone has their time to shine. Everyone has a purpose, and no one individual is more important than the other – they NEED each other, and it shows. Yes, The Snyder Cut is 4-ours long, but if you want the whole story presented the way the director intended, this is a must-see.
