MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Escape Plan: The Extractors is 200% better than its predecessor. The story is better, the acting is better, and the action is intense. The first Escape Plan was about Stallone’s security business and how well they can expose weak spots in prisons. The second movie continued this idea with a betrayal twist. This third installment did not have the standard prison break theme. Instead, it was a rescue mission, and the captors were based at a prison. Escape Plan 3 wastes little time getting to the action while still having a compelling, although simple, story, and plot. The most significant difference between this film and the previous two is the seriousness of the kidnappers. No playing around, no joking, and none of those long monologues every bad guy has to explain his sad “this is why I did it” story. For the most part, Escape Plan: The Extractors has a lot of callbacks to the first movie. Apparently, even Stallone knows that second movie was total crap. He redeems himself with this one, and as I stated earlier, the mood throughout the film is very intense. In the end, Escape Plan 3 will not win any awards, but it will satisfy those looking for a no-nonsense crime-drama with some surprisingly high action with a ton of unexpected grisly deaths. Definitely worth a rental.
