MOVIESinMO Review

Replicas tell a story of unacceptance, love, and hope. It’s a science fiction film that many of us wish was real. Based on the plot alone, this movie should be a sci-fi moviegoer’s dream. Well, it’s not. Why? One name, Keanu. He is so wrong for this type of film. His emotional spectrum is very short. He’s great when you need someone to look crazy like a killer as in John Wick. He has no problem looking confused like in Bill & Ted or the Matrix. That’s pretty much the full extent of Mr. Reeves’s emotional resume. In Replicas, he loses his family. At this point, you realize just how limited Keanu is as an actor. If my family was killed in a car accident, I would be devastated. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself, and I definitely wouldn’t think about going to work for a long while. I think that’s how most of us would react. Will Foster (Keanu Reeves), is so stiff in his delivery, I just can’t believe he’s that upset about losing his family. It’s almost like he was glad they were dead so he could bring them back. He has to be the calmest and most focused grieving person I’ve ever seen. He also has one of the best employees/friends ever. That’s just a part of what makes this movie so hard to believe, no matter how much I wanted to. Even the bad guy is a stereotype of every bad guy in a movie. The idea of reproducing your family is an awesome concept, and I hope they can find a better cast to reproduce this poorly acted movie.
