What’s It About
On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers drop behind enemy lines to penetrate the walls of a fortified church and destroy a radio transmitter. As the soldiers approach their target, they soon begin to realize that there’s more going on in the Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. Making their way to an underground lab, the outnumbered men stumble upon a sinister experiment that forces them into a vicious battle against an army of the undead.
MoviesInMo Review
Nazis and zombies and war but why? It took nearly an hour, but I finally found out what the hell this movie was about. I’m not a history buff, so I didn’t catch the clues at the beginning. A bunch of soldiers in a plane on their way to a war zone in Germany. One soldier is carving names and a date (1944) into the plane. For those that know history, so what. For everyone else, it’s D-Day (look it up). This is the story Overlord decided to alter. Other than using D-Day as a reason for the war, this movie has a different focus. Ten minutes in and you realize just how horrifying war can be. Overlord goes from drama to thriller to suspense and back to drama within the first 30 minutes. Once the soldiers make it to their destination to complete their mission, more of the story unfolds. Meanwhile, you’re just as terrified as the soldiers, and you find out what’s going on as they find out. This is what makes this film so scary and suspenseful. The Nazis are experimenting on people in the name of Mein Führer, and it gets weirder as it goes on. With all the things the soldiers were dealing with, I forgot what the real mission was. Underneath all the craziness, Overlord is a horror-thriller filled with action that’s unexpectedly better than any of my preconceived notions.
