WHAT’S IT ABOUT
A shocking exorcism spirals out of control, claiming the life of a young woman. Months later, morgue worker Megan Reed takes delivery of a disfigured cadaver during the graveyard shift. Locked inside the basement corridors, Megan’s horrifying visions soon lead her to believe that the body is possessed by a demonic force.
MoviesInMo Review
It is what the tagline says; “Death is Only the Beginning.” Right from the start, there’s an exorcism in progress, and it’s not going well. Hannah Grace is strapped to a bed, and a priest is failing but not from the lack of trying. Once this scene ends, it’s three months later, and we meet the other important character of the movie, Megan Reed. She’s a troubled ex-cop that just got a new job working in the morgue. That’s the set-up, and since this is a horror/thriller, you would expect things to start happening. Unfortunately, this film drags with little scares along the way. I guess you can’t do much if most of the film takes place in the basement (morgue) of a hospital. The only mystery throughout the film was wondering if everything was happening in Megan’s mind. The Possession of Hannah Grace isn’t a new concept, and it has been done better. The main problem here is the long wait. After every scare, you expect the movie to “take off,” but it never does. Something happens, then you wait. Something happens again, then you wait again. This happened all the way to the end of the movie. This film DOES NOT live up to the hype. There were just enough “jump” scenes to keep you from walking out but not enough to save this movie.
