What’s It About
Four years after the events of the original film, bodyguard Michael Bryce is on a company-mandated sabbatical when Sonia Kincaid, the wife of hitman Darius Kincaid with whom Bryce shares an uneasy friendship, rescues him from an assassination attempt to rescue Darius. Due to his sabbatical, Bryce is not allowed to use firearms or lethal weapons of any kind and must use his wits and intelligence to save Darius and save the day.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
If you liked the first movie, you’ll love this one. More kills, more cursing, and more comic-book-style action. This time Michael is forced into action by Darius’ wife, Sonia (Salma Hayek), and she is out for blood. Her husband had been kidnapped, and the last thing she heard him say was – find Michael Bryce. Meanwhile, Michael was still having mental issues from the last time he was teamed up with Darius. So when Michael is hunted down and eventually found by Sonia, every suppressed emotion regarding Darius Kincaid came rushing back ten-fold. Not to forget that Bryce’s doctor suggested he take a break from everything violent. Sorry, Michael, Sonia has other plans. Bryce gets stressed beyond belief, and Mrs. Kincaid is on a total tirade trying to get her husband back. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is filled with comedic action from beginning to end, but the most surprising dialog was hearing Salma Hayek curse. It was funny and shocking at the same time. Ryan Reynolds simply reprised his role and continued from where we left him in the first film, just a bit less confident. Samuel L. Jackson was your classic Samuel L. Jackson – no real complaints. Everything and everyone else was secondary. Even Ryan’s dad seemed to be an afterthought. This movie is all about action, with Michael, Sonia, and Darius as the good and bad guys from a Bond film. Ultimately, as long as you don’t take anything in this film too seriously, you’ll have a great time.
