MOVIESinMO Review
What the hell is happening to DC? I’m not talking about the live-action films, because they’ve always sucked with the exceptions of Wonder Woman and now Aquaman. There was a time when a DC animated cartoon on television was the closest you could get when bringing the pages of the comics to life. Then they started to up the game with straight-to-video releases. These films didn’t have the same restriction that being on TV presented, therefore, they could be a lot more risque. Lately, DC animated films have been hit or miss, with a lot of miss in the roster. Reign of the Supermen is borderline. It’s not bad but it could be so much better than it is. It’s also not a stand-alone film. You need to see both (Death of Superman) movies in order for this story to be what the writers wanted it to be. Unfortunately, the first movie is so much better than this one, it makes The Reign of the Supermen seem even worse. The introduction of the other supermen was uninspired, the dialog was lazy, and the climax was the weakest one I’ve seen in a DC movie to date. If the DC animated studio wants to return to producing quality films, they need to pay a little more and get REAL comic book writers and stop changing voice actors in every movie.
