MOVIESinMO REVIEW
What do you get when you put Deadpool, Wonder Woman, and Black Adam in the same movie? Nothing, unless they’re actually playing Deadpool, Wonder Woman, and Black Adam. Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot were fantastic in their superhero films, and I’m sure Dwayne Johnson will be what we expect as Black Adam. Unfortunately, their performances in Red Notice seem out of place because they are acting the same as their superhero persona. That makes it a bit difficult to fully enjoy this movie if all you see is Ryan as Deadpool. He performs the same, has the same smart mouth, has tons of quips and one-liners, and fights like he’s indestructible. Ms. Gadot played her role as written, and the only real time you could compare her to Wonder Woman was during the fight scenes between Ryan and Dwayne. A feat that looks normal as a superhero but awkwardly dumb as an art thief. And then there’s Johnson. He’s the same in practically every movie he’s in, but just like his other co-stars, he’s very likable and entertaining. Red Notice takes advantage of each actor’s “IT” factor and lets them do what they are best at – being themselves. This film, as a whole, is very entertaining and nothing else. There will be scenes that people may want to revisit strictly for their fun factor. Still, the story, the action, the overall outcome of it all is so impossibly unbelievable, you would be a fool to take anything in Red Notice seriously and a bigger fool if you wanted to point out all the WTF moments. Every action movie has WTF moments. Indiana Jones jumped out of a plane on a raft, The Bride in Kill Bill killed The Crazy 88 without breaking a sweat, and James Bonds invisible Aston Martin in Die Another Day. The list is long, but they can do no wrong as long as we love the actor/actors. Red Notice may have the same love/hate relationship with a lot of people, but no one can honestly say it’s not enjoyable.
OUR RATING – A BRAINLESS 6.5
