MOVIESinMO REVIEW

The title says it all. This movie has practically everything regarding a bizarre multiverse type of story. And the focus is everywhere, all at once. The trailer doesn’t tell you much, so you go in blindsided with a crazy story about interdimensional travel through different universes. Unfortunately, moviegoers will either love or hate it because of its strangely original plot. Besides being an extraordinary fantasy-styled film, Everything Everywhere All at Once has excellent messages for relationships, believing in yourself, and family. It’s a sci-fi bonanza with a “real” story that will require a couple of viewings for some to understand the complete story coherently. The amount of time and imagination within this movie is outstanding. No scene is wasted and every second of screen time is crucial, even the part with the rocks. The cast is excellent, but Michelle Yeoh, one of the main protagonists, is fantastic. Her ability to change personalities was slightly better than her co-stars. As stated above, this film deals significantly with the multiverse, but not in the ways we’ve seen in movies like the Marvels franchise. Instead of simply going to different universes, characters become their other-self. This includes any skills that version of them possesses. It’s a little weird and disorientating at first, but after the second or third body jump, you miss it when it doesn’t happen. This is one of those films you could watch repeatedly and find new meaning in its ultimate message of family.
