What’s It About
In Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, join our favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans. But the dream vacation turns into a nightmare when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monsterkind.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
So they made a third one, and if you like the other two, Hotel Transylvania 3 gives you much of the same. This time around the focus is not just on Dracula, although he is the main reason for the surprise cruise set up by his daughter. In an attempt to help her dad and staff receive a well-earned vacation, Mavis surprises everyone with a monster cruise. Every monster is excited and eager to go except Dracula. He hates everything about it and thinks it’s a waste of time until he sees Captain Erica. From this point on we get to see what the other monsters are doing. The werewolves are having kid issues, some witches are eyeballing Vlad, Drac’s father, and Frankenstein’s monster and his bride are having beach fun. The Blob, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, and his wife, are all used as comic relief. While Dracula is not handling his crush on Erica, it turns out she is the great, granddaughter of the legendary Van Helsing. Her mission throughout the film is to get rid of all monsters, starting with Dracula. As the film progresses, plans are altered, lessons are learned, and there are enough adult jokes to keep the parents entertained. Hotel Transylvania 3 continues to take away the evil side of monsters, making all of them out to be big misunderstood creatures that just want to raise their families the best they can. Rated PG for slapstick violence, some adult-themed innuendo, and a few scary monster scenes. There will be a ton of films coming out this summer aimed at children and most of them will suck. Hotel Transylvania 3, like the other two movies, should absolutely be on your kid’s must-see list. So, grab your little adults and go see this movie.
