MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Another Horror-filled movie about a doll. We’ve seen Robert, The Boy, Annabelle, that creepy little wooden doll from Trilogy of Terror, and of course, Chucky, 1988, and the 2019 reboot. There are a lot of others, so what makes this model-3 generative android, or M3GAN, so unique? Unlike the other dolls, M3GAN was never possessed by a human, an evil spirit, or part of a vengeful seance. She was not imaginary and will speak no matter who was around. Lastly, M3GAN is not two to eight inches tall or the standard doll height. She is a four-foot doll and companion built with good intentions, created with learning software and an AI designed to befriend and improve the life of the child she is paired with. And with each interaction, she becomes seemingly more life-like. What could possibly go wrong? Other than the obvious for a horror film. This movie also had a much better plot than most films of its type, and it was more relatable by today’s standards, unlike that Chucky reboot that was just plain unnecessary. Overall, M3GAN was very entertaining, AND it simultaneously taught the importance of good parenting. A sequel is inevitable.
