What’s It About
The film continues with the survivors of the latest Ghostface killings, sisters Samantha and Tara Carpenter and twins Chad and Mindy Meeks, leaving Woodsboro behind and starting a new chapter of their lives in New York City[8] only to again be plagued by a streak of murders by a new Ghostface killer.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
He’s back. . .again, and this time Ghostface is a lot more brutal. Let me rephrase that. Ghostface is killing people without mercy or hesitation. This time he stabs his victims multiple times over and over and over again. So who is he ultimately after? This time the premise focuses on the newest survivors from last year’s movie, Scream 5. Sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter are the front and center victims throughout. If you don’t remember them, that’s ok, because just like every Scream movie, one friend will always explain the rules of the horror genre. That over-explaining friend had a lot of help this time, and unfortunately, that was a bit too much. You couldn’t go ten minutes without someone explaining what they were doing or about to do. All that aside, the kills are what drives the Scream series, in addition to trying to figure out who’s behind the mask. Scream VI succeeded in the jump-scare department but nearly killed itself with exposition overload and a subpar script that pushed the boundaries of what an audience is willing to accept as entertainment. In the end, Scream VI still somehow manages to be a step ahead of its predecessors.
