MOVIESinMO REVIEW
The Fast and the Furious franchise has always taken pride in itself being utterly over-the-top action movies, and the latest does not disappoint. Just when you thought they couldn’t possibly make a film crazier than the last one, Fast X shatters reality with an over two-hour adrenaline rush of unbelievable vehicle stunts and action. This time the story is attached to the outcome of Fast Five. That film focused on the drug lord and businessman Hernan Reyes. Dom and his “family” stole his money and ultimately ended Reyes’ life of crime. In Fast X, the son of Hernan Reyes, Dante Reyes, is out for serious revenge. The film opens with a recap of Fast Five, followed by an almost thirty-minute race. As the film progresses, you realize how insanely crazy and committed Dante is. He made it his lifelong mission to destroy anyone he sees as Dom’s family or friend. That means every leading player from every Fast movie, except Mr. Nobody, is in this film. This includes friends and enemies. The Fast franchise has had some wild enemies, but Dante is, by far, the most demented character yet. The tone of Fast X starts the same as the others in the series, but once Dante is introduced, things get dark fast. This is also the first time you know the entire team is in mortal danger. Unfortunately, that is a feeling everyone must live with since this film is part one of two.
