MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Sound of Freedom is based on a true story about a federal agent named Tim Ballard, played by Jim Caviezel. Agent Ballard’s job was to catch and arrest pedophiles until a fellow agent asked him how many kids he had rescued versus how many traffickers he had put behind bars. The realization that he caught over 200 traffickers versus zero kids rescued sparked the need for Ballard to do something more radical in his attempts to save more children. There’s a scene where Ballard is watching some of the pedophile’s evidence, and I thank God they didn’t show it. Seeing the look on Ballard’s face and the sounds of kids with an adult was sickening. I’m sure everyone knows human trafficking exists, but knowing how horrible of a crime doesn’t resonate with some people until they see how easy it is to have your child taken and forced into the multi-billion dollar world of sex trafficking. Sound of Freedom gives them that insight. You follow Agent Ballard on his soul-cleansing mission to save a young boy, only to later discover he had been separated from his sister. With that knowledge, Ballard wanted to save his sister. However, the bureaucracies, current laws, and standard red tape we currently abide by kept Agent Ballard from attacking the problem with the full assistance needed to end a very sick one. Throughout the film, reasons why trafficking still exists become inherently obvious – This world is filled with some sick individuals, and no matter how dangerous it is to snatch and sell children for sex, money rules above all. This movie opens your eyes to some very rich and powerful pedophiles that I’m sure are part of why trafficking is still a massive issue in America but even worse in other parts of the globe. In my opinion, nothing will truly change for the better as long as pedophiles have political influence. That includes the ones that hide behind religion.
