MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths movie trilogy resolves lingering plotlines from previous films and concludes the new animated DC universe with a compelling finish. In Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One, the formation of the Earth-1 Justice League killed Barry Allen’s Flash and introduced the second generation of heroes from Earth-2’s Justice Society. In Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two, the origin stories of Earth-1 Supergirl and Earth-2 Psycho-Pirate are pivotal to the Crisis trilogy. In Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three, they tied together every character arc and narrative strand, leading to a heartwarming conclusion. Picking up where Part Two left off, Supergirl’s killing of the Monitor with her heat vision released the energy needed to transport all surviving parallel Earths to The Bleed—a pocket dimension outside of time and space, inaccessible to the Anti-Monitor. With the Earths now fighting for survival, Crisis Part Three diverges significantly from its predecessors by plunging directly into the action. The dimension called The Bleed is depicted as an unstable realm where the laws of physics are nearly nonexistent. Timelines collide, allowing dinosaurs to rampage through Earth-1’s Metropolis and World War II Nazis to invade Earth-2’s Gotham, aiming to steal Batman’s rogue technologies. Crisis Part Three establishes its central conflict immediately by forgoing exposition, enabling the story to unfold steadier than in the previous films, where the action initially moved slower. Despite being more action-packed, what truly propels the story are the relationships between specific groups of heroes. The film introduces the second Black Canary, Dinah Laurel Lance, to her love interest, Oliver Queen, AKA Green Arrow. Two other relationships are briefly explored: the Earth-1 Superman’s bond with his cousin Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl, and the Earth-2 Superman’s romantic arc with his world’s Wonder Woman, which follows the death of his wife, Lois Lane. These relationships highlight the emotional stakes and deepen the narrative. Ultimately, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three weaves together complex character arcs, thrilling action, and emotional stakes to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. The meticulous storytelling and attention to detail throughout the trilogy ensure a compelling and immersive experience without relying wholly on the source material for DC universe fans.
