MOVIESinMO REVIEW

Finally, a movie for people who love wrestling done by monsters. Ok, seriously, it may have sounded like a fun concept for kids, but the writers seem to have given up on any type of interesting story that could meld with a WWE theme – with monsters. The tale of Rumble is pretty simple since it does cater to a young wrestling audience. In Rumble, the residents of Stoker are home to the new wrestling champ Tentacular. All was good until Tentacular’s people decided to move to another town leaving Stoker without their primary form of lucrative visitor revenue. The daughter of the previous Monster champion, Winnie, was determined to find another monster wrestler to keep the franchise and the money it creates in Stoker. The story is outrageous, and the outcomes are as predictable as in the “real” televised WWE. I’m sure if someone had asked Vince McMahon, he would have come up with a great story, just like he does for the WWE. There’s no way anyone could mess it up. But watching monsters wrestle and exist alongside humans was weird to see. Just the concept raises so many questions. Mainly, how did this alliance start, where’s the food for the monsters coming from, and which race has planetary control? I guess we will never know. I know I’m overthinking it. Anyway, Rumble as a whole is not that bad if you’re an easily entertained kid with 95 minutes to waste.
