MOVIESinMO REVIEW
It’s over. After forty-two years, the fantastic saga George Lucas started in 1977 has finally ended. So was it worth the wait? No. Lucas never had a nine movie idea when he wrote and directed Star Wars. To the die-hard fans, there are only the three original Star Wars films – 1977, 1980 and 1983, nothing else mattered. Then sixteen years later, a new trilogy was started. Those films from 1999, 2002 and 2005 were prequels. Three films that explain how it all started. Those were mainly on a love/hate relationship. New fans hated to love them while true fans loved to hate them. That brings us to the last (according to Disney) trilogy in the Star Wars franchise. The first in 2015 continued the original story and gave the new fans their own Star Wars Story. Next came 2017 and Disney continued to merge the stories and characters in an attempt to give Star Wars one long continuous story. Now, in 2019, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ties every story, every character, and every location into one colossal inevitable saga. We all knew it was going to happen eventually, but it had one obstacle – itself. There was too much of it. It was/is everywhere and that alone is the main downfall. As for the film, because of all of the over-saturation, Disney was almost forced to end it. That created the story problem in Star Wars IV. Is it a good story? Yes (sort of). It depends on what story you want to follow. There are tons of callbacks from the other films, along with loads of images and characters. The nostalgia of the original movies is present throughout the film. They even put in some stuff from the animated series. There’s so much in this film to digest. Additionally, The Rise of Skywalker answers every question, including those asked by fans, to wrap-up a very convoluted story. That doesn’t include the new controversy this film adds to the Star Wars canon. It does, however, ensure forty more years of stories they can add because of the new stuff everyone just found out. The Rise of Skywalker becomes annoying and confusing if you’re not paying close attention to details. This has to be the first movie I’ve ever seen where I wish it was in three parts. I will definitely need to buy this when it arrives on Blu-ray. That may be the only way to see, hear, and understand the entire story.
