WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Jordan is a take-no-prisoners tech mogul who torments her long-suffering assistant, April, and the rest of her employees on a daily basis. She soon faces an unexpected threat to her personal life and career when she magically transforms into a 13-year-old version of herself right before a do-or-die presentation. Jordan will now need to rely on April more than ever — if April is willing to stop treating Jordan like a 13-year-old child who has an attitude problem.
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
It’s not a new idea but the concept has not been done since 2009’s 17 Again. As for using African American actors as the lead with the same concept, that would probably be Seventeen Again in 2000, starring Tia and Tamera Mowry. Either way, those films did ok but they represent that period of time. It’s 2019 and just like any genre, there needs to be a new and updated version of movies that rely on the current pop culture. That brings us to LITTLE. The language, the attitude, and the references are all based on what kids today see and deal with on a daily basis. In LITTLE, Jordan is the very definition of a mean boss. April is her stereotypical “do anything for my boss” assistant. The movie plays out as it should but, like other films that use this type of premise, there’s just not enough time to make the inevitable results believable. Besides that obvious flaw, this is still a funny movie. That’s because the main focus is about how the way you treat others affects everything around you and everyone you know. Will this film change anybody’s attitude towards others? I optimistically hope it does, but unfortunately, the people that need to see this movie will never think it could be about them. Oh well, what are you going to do? So when it comes to body-switching, age changing, sex swapping films, LITTLE takes care of the age changing part. I’m sure Hollywood’s working on new movies for the others.
