MOVIESinMO REVIEW

I’ve never been in the Navy, and I’ve never been on or in a submarine, but I’m quite sure the things in this movie are nowhere near accurate. But, as I mentioned, I’m not a military anything nor am I a submarine expert, so this review will be based on what it’s supposed to be based on. Was it worth seeing and was it entertaining? Short answer – yes. Hunter Killer has so many flaws that anyone could easily pick it apart but why. There are so many bad movies out there why would you want to belittle one of the few that’s truly entertaining. Don’t forget it’s still just a movie. Therefore, there will be some things (a lot of things) that would never and could never happen in real life. The actions of the soldiers and officers are so over the top (but entertaining) you’ve got to wonder what were they trying to achieve in this film because realism left a long time ago.  By contrast, the Navy SEALs were so “real” that it made everything else just that much more unrealistic and since the bulk of this film is on a submarine, you get the point. Besides the entertainment factor, Hunter Killer plays like a military P.R. infomercial. Everything was about how we as a country can work together and treat everyone fairly, even if their not on our side. All the men on a sub get along, and everything works out in America’s favor as long as it was for a good cause. So, there you have it. Hunter Killer is worth seeing (at a discount), and you will enjoy it as long as you remember it’s for entertainment purposes only.
