What’s It About
When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big! “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza – a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers. It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies, everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a serious supervillain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!
MOVIESinMO REVIEW
I didn’t believe it when I heard they were making a Teen Titans movie for the theaters. Why? What could they possibly do that could justify being put on the big screen. This movie was definitely made for a very young audience, but were they begging to go to the movies? How many kids love to sit quietly for 90 minutes and watch anything? Yes, I know some kids will sit quietly (at home) and watch a show, but unless the child loves watching movies, they will need to run around during the commercial breaks. Unfortunately, there are no breaks at the theater, so the sugar-filled children (like I was), become antsy – you can guess the rest. As for the film, “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies” does have some added interests for the kids that watch it on TV. There are also enough “adult” jokes for the parents to stay awake. The animation appears to be slightly better, and the presence of so many DC characters is seen in the Teen Titans Go! animation form can be a plus for comic book geeks young and old. As for fans of the show, this movie is just as fun, silly, and unpredictable as ever. The true spirit and reason the Teen Titans Go! is still on TV, is because they never treat their core audience like idiots. The jokes and the laid-back way things get done never undermine or belittle the intelligence of its fans. They can act silly, and they will say they are silly. They will do things that don’t make sense, and they will address the fact that whatever it was didn’t make sense. Regardless of what I or anyone says negatively about this movie, if you take the time to watch it (with your kids), you can tell there was a real effort involved in making it fun for kids AND adults.
