What’s It About

Trained killer Ladybug wants to give up the life but is pulled back in by his handler Maria Beetle in order to collect a briefcase on a bullet train heading from Tokyo to Morioka. Onboard are fellow assassins Kimura, the Prince, Tangerine, and Lemon. Once onboard the five assassins discover that their objectives are all connected.

MOVIESinMO REVIEW

In a world filled with so much heartbreaking drama, I was ecstatic that Bullet Train is an entirely off-the-rails comedy action film. This is total escapism. It was Ladybug (Brad Pitt) versus everybody. The story was simple and complicated at the same time. Why? Because there was so much going on, and every character had a side story to tell. From The Son to The Elder, it was non-stop chaos that flew farther and farther off the rail as the story continued. From Ladybug’s perspective, it was an easy grab-a-briefcase-and-go type of job. But there were a couple of assassins named Lemon and Tangerine whose job was to bring the briefcase along with the son of White Death, the leader of the world’s largest crime syndicate. There’s also an American assassin, a Mexican assassin, a former Yakuza, and a young mercenary all after the same thing – somewhat. That’s the ultimate trick. No matter how outrageous, every story comes to a delightful end practically simultaneously. Bullet Train is all about fun. It is pure entertainment with enough of an actual story to be worthy of a movie ticket price.
