MOVIESinMO REVIEW
Air is lazy writing with weak creativity that ultimately plays like a ninety-minute infomercial. It’s a movie about the shoe that saved a wealthy company’s basketball shoe division. And I thought Hollywood ran out of ideas. I have no actual argument about the acting, nor do I care. But seriously, the way the trailers played out, they make you think Nike was going broke before Air Jordans were made. In reality, Nike was losing in the Basketball shoe race. They wanted to rule the sports world because they were only known for making running shoes. On the one hand, Air is a sad and selfish way to promote yourself. On the other hand, Air has a great cast with great acting and a surprisingly decent story, no matter how self-serving it may be. The main problem with Air is the theater release. I would have had so much more respect for this film if it was a Netflix or Disney original. But since they put it in the theaters, having to pay to see a Nike ad is just wrong.
OUR RATING – A PRETENTIOUS 5
